Common Mistakes
Using Celsius instead of Kelvin in thermodynamic equations: Clausius-Clapeyron and Boltzmann distributions require absolute temperature. Using °C gives exponentially wrong vapor pressures and occupation fractions.
Confusing the partition function with a probability: Z is a normalization factor for the Boltzmann distribution, not a probability itself. Individual probabilities are exp(-ε/kT)/Z.
Forgetting that latent heat units vary: L can be J/kg (specific) or J/mol (molar). Mixing them up gives answers off by the molar mass factor. Always check which form the problem uses.
